HISTORY

Mr. Jack Ruthrauff founded our company in 1934 when he opened a refrigeration equipment distribution and service company called Refrigeration Equipment Company. Noted for his integrity and quality workmanship, he branched out into the air conditioning field in the mid 1950's when Mr. Nick Laux joined the company and formed Ruthrauff Incorporated.

In 1969, under Mr. Laux's guidance, Ruthrauff Incorporated set a corporate objective to become a complete mechanical contractor. To enter the plumbing field, Ruthrauff purchased Coleman-Good Inc., a well-established plumbing firm.

In 1970, Ruthrauff Incorporated opened its own sheetmetal fabrication shop and also entered the process-piping field. All operations were consolidated into one location in McKees Rocks in 1971. Coleman-Good entered the Fire Protection field in 1978 and Probe IV, an engineering corporation, was formed to provide design of our mechanical systems. Coleman-Good merged into Ruthrauff Incorporated at the end of 1985 and Ruthrauff Inc. was established.

Beginning in 1989, a group of key employees, led by David Faller acquired ownership of Ruthrauff Inc. as Mr. Laux gradually phased-out. During the ensuing years, all facets of engineering, project management and accounting were computerized and networked and the corporate structure streamlined into a single entity with a focus on being "The Single Source Advantage" to its customers.

In 2006, Ruthrauff Inc. was acquired by Sauer Holdings, Inc.  Two new companies were created to continue the operation of the previous company - Ruthrauff | Sauer for the HVAC & Plumbing work and Ruthrauff Service, LLC for HVAC Maintenance & Building Automation and Service.  Raymond Gajski was appointed President of Ruthrauff LLC and John Sloan, President of Ruthrauff Service LLC.  Ruthrauff | Sauer is a leading provider of construction services on the mid-sized and smaller HVAC & plumbing projects, as well as service and maintenance contracts, while Sauer Incorporated has focused locally on larger plumbing, HVAC and industrial process work.  This alliance will bring a collaborative approach to deliver the best value to our customers based upon their needs.
