ENGINEERING
Ruthrauff | Sauer maintains an in-house engineering staff primarily to accommodate design/build projects for which we provide both design and construction services. Our
engineers and designers are also available as a troubleshooting and value engineering
resource for non-design-build work or existing installations.
Ruthrauff | Sauer's extensive resume of design-build work includes both HVAC and plumbing projects
for a wide variety of commercial, industrial and institutional clients. Our designs range in
complexity from packaged rooftop air conditioning units with simple duct layouts to central
chilled water and steam plants serving multiple air handling systems. Daily interaction
between our engineering staff and our own construction forces makes us better designers
and results in better-engineered systems for our clients.
When you're looking for the best-engineered building at the fairest possible price,
Ruthrauff | Sauer is the single source for all of your HVAC and Plumbing needs. Talk to us at the development
stage and maximize your potential for a more cost-effective, shorter duration project.

Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall
This 90+-year-old national museum and historical landmark located on Fifth Avenue in Oakland
had never been air-conditioned. Ruthrauff | Sauer designed and installed new air handling systems with
chilled water-cooling and steam heating to serve the 2300 seat auditorium and a banquet
facility for 500. Ruthrauff | Sauer's also designed and installed digital control systems to monitor
and maintain space temperatures and indoor air quality.
Pittsburgh Technical Institute
PTI's new instructional facility in Robinson Township opened in 2007. Ruthrauff | Sauer designed and
installed a water source heat pump conditioning system and dedicated ventilation system to
control individual classroom temperatures while maintaining the code required ventilation.
Air-to-air energy recovery was employed on the ventilation system to minimize energy use.
Westpointe Office Building
Located on the Parkway West in Moon Township, this 125,000 square foot, Class A office
building was completed in 1999. Ruthrauff | Sauer designed and installed central air conditioning
systems utilizing packaged rooftop units to cool and ventilate the entire building. Gas
fired hot water boilers provide supplemental heat at the building perimeter.
